Gina Mandella

When and where was your first yoga class?  I've been a dance instructor for 18 years, but I only took my first yoga class in February 2015, at Yoga Works in San Francisco. I do not remember the instructors name, but I do remember falling in love with yoga within the first 5 minutes. When I returned home I researched yoga studios and knew immediately Metrowest was home. Miss Lily C. was the instructor.

What inspires you? My daughter, music, nature, creative humans, survivors, and authentic yoga teachers. I'm easily inspired.

What do you love the most about yoga?  I love the heightened sense of awareness it has given me, the space and clarity it creates within my body, mind, and spirit...but above all the practice of self-love and the ability it gives me to appreciate every part of myself. I wish to share it with every soul I can.

What can you not live without?  My daughter, she reminds me to be present at all times. Also...sunshine.

What might people not know about you? I was a professional dancer at Hersherypark for five years, and I was dancer in the movie "School Ties".

What was the best advice you ever received? "just breathe" from a dance teacher in high school.

What is your favorite book? I love books. I never turn on the television. I love "The alchemist" by Paulo Coelho and anything pertaining to yoga of course.

What is your favorite word? Serendipity

Favorite local escape? Any beach in New England, and Metrowest Yoga of course.

What is your favorite thing to do? Watch an approaching storm. The way the wind blows, the trees sway, how it intensifies, and the rain that follows always mesmerizes me, and soothes my soul. Also, hanging with my daughter, taking an amazing yoga class, dancing, listening to the ocean, laying in the sunshine, and long bike rides.

Gina Mandella instructs the following:
  • Morning Flow (Hot Heat)
  • MYoga Flow Yoga covers a wide variety of yoga styles. Including; Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Bikram and Baptiste. It is a vigorous practice that strengthens the core muscles in the body, enhances flexibility, while encouraging deep concentration and focus. All Flow Yoga is practiced in a heated room. The heat encourages perspiration, which helps to detoxify and cleanse the body. The muscles respond to the heat by relaxing and allowing us to move deeper into a posture. There is an assumption that you have practiced before, so there is less attention to alignment ques. This moves at a faster pace to elevate the heart rate and elevate the cardiovascular system as well as develop strength and flexibility. This practice will tone and sculpt your body and heal your soul. Be prepared to sweat, and discover your inner strength!  (Hot Heat)

  • Slow Flow (Mild Heat)
  • MYoga Slow Flow incorporates the same principles as MYoga Flow, with less postures than a regular Flow Yoga class — more emphasis on alignment, breath and the foundational tools of a yoga practice. We recommend 3 -6 classes before attending a regular Flow Yoga class. (Mild Heat)
