Monthly Advanced with Theresa (ERYT 500)
The art of yoga asana is in the subtleties…especially advanced practice! These monthly intensive classes will offer insight into the subtle details and power that resides deep within your core. Theresa has developed a vinyasa style that integrates the breath-based flow of power yoga and the precision of Iyengar yoga into a deep, sweaty, and transformative mind-body experience. Students will be guided in bandhas, breath work, inversions, arm-balances, twisting and back bending all at a new level of depth and support. These classes are designed for strong practice, deep connection, and sustained focus. Only the most sensitive and dedicated students will appreciate these offerings. To attend one must be able to kick up into handstand at the wall and push up in urdhva dhanurasana (upward facing bow, aka “wheel” pose).

Bio: Theresa Murphy, E-RYT500 has over 16 years of teaching experience, including 10 years leading yoga teacher trainings. Theresa offers one of the most comprehensive teacher training programs available, sharing her vast knolwledge of asana, anatomy, alignment, yoga philosophy and meditation with students throughout the U.S. She is the first teacher to achieve the Prajna Yoga 500 hour certification, and recently co-taught the Prajna 200 hour curriculum with Tias Little in Omaha, NE where she owned and directed two yoga studios for a decade. Theresa has recently earned a second 500 hourcertification with Sarah Powers and the Insight Yoga Institute, which focused on the teachings of the Buddha Dharma, Taoist yoga, Shadow Yoga, Yin Yoga and Transpersonal Psychology. In addition to her root teachers Tias Little and Sarah Powers, she studies regularly with Patricia Walden in the Iyengar method and studies Bonnie Bainbridg-Cohen’s Body-Mind Centering methods under Amy Matthews and Patti Townsend. Theresa’s approach is playful yet focused, gentle and direct. She weaves modern day relevance into the ancient wisdom teachings, creating a skillful approach to learning the essence of yoga: understanding this precious human condition. With over 20 years on the mat, she lives what she teaches.
