For many the shoulders, diaphragm, and the pelvis are the most congested areas of the modern human.
We sacrifice our natural form to compromise to the shapes of furniture and technological devices.
In this 2 1/2 hour workshop we will methodically open up the body with finesse rather than force.
First phase based on generating heat with ujjayi breathing, fiery core work and steady standing balances, middle phase
more floor based leading to a last phase landing in a luxurious restorative practice to help repair and renew the self.
Recommended to bring a eye pillows, a towel, an extra blanket or socks if you get cold.
(Restorative Yoga usually brings body temperature down).
Bio: Mary-Anne Purcell has always been a mover, mostly an intense one. When she began practicing yoga in 2001 her intensity, over time, softened to a state of balance. Living in an injured body has forced her to start her practice from scratch multiple times which has always led to awakenings. Along the way she has had many great teachers that helped her deconstruct structural habits to form intelligent solutions to physical bumps in the road. She has studied with and is continuously inspired by, Shawn Shaw, Jacqui Bonwell, Johnny Gillespie, Diana Hoscheit, Beryl Bender Birch, Bryan Kest, Anna Forrest, Heather Tiddens, Kim O’Leary, etc… She did her 200hr vinyasa certification with Rolf Gates, her Restorative Yoga training with Judith Lasater, and completed her 300 hr yoga training with Theresa Murphy.
