Note: All yoga classes at Metrowest Yoga are meditative and spiritual. We teach with heart. All classes are choreographed to move the body through each body part and build strength while releasing tension and stress. Each class leaves the entire body feeling healthier, more connected and the mind feeling peaceful!
Flow - MYoga Flow Yoga covers a wide variety of yoga styles. Including; Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Bikram and Baptiste. It is a vigorous practice that strengthens the core muscles in the body, enhances flexibility, while encouraging deep concentration and focus. All Flow Yoga is practiced in a heated room. The heat encourages perspiration, which helps to detoxify and cleanse the body. The muscles respond to the heat by relaxing and allowing us to move deeper into a posture. There is an assumption that you have practiced before, so there is less attention to alignment ques. This moves at a faster pace to elevate the heart rate and elevate the cardiovascular system as well as develop strength and flexibility. This practice will tone and sculpt your body and heal your soul. Be prepared to sweat, and discover your inner strength!
MYoga Hot Hatha – This invigorating and mindful series that Shawn developed incorporates strengthening postures as well as emphasizing stillness and focus. Postures are held longer than our flow classes. The practice allows for students to work with their breath while developing strength and flexibility. Be prepared to transform your practice. Open to all levels. It will challenge the experienced student, but moves slow enough for a newer student.
Fundamentals - Enjoy the opportunity to practice with Shawn! In this vigorous class we will work with the principles and fundamentals of yoga. In addition to explaining the other aspects of yoga philosophy, we will be exploring alignment in some basic postures as well as working with some postures you may not get to try in our other a classes. Shawn will occasionally practice with the class giving you the insight she brings from her personal experience. This is not a beginner’s class. There is an assumption that you have practiced before. But all levels are welcome.
Slow Flow -MYoga Slow Flow incorporates the same principles as MYoga Flow, with less postures than a regular Flow Yoga class — more emphasis on alignment, breath and the foundational tools of a yoga practice. We recommend 3 -6 classes before attending a regular Flow Yoga class.
Power Hour -Follows the format of the MYoga Flow class but is condensed to 1 hour.
Beginner Flow - An entry level class geared toward beginner’s -still a flow class, but more demonstration if needed. emphasis on alignment, breath and the foundational tools of a yoga practice. There is no heat added to these classes and students are encouraged to rest more. No heat added
Community Class: These classes are for our teachers in training who have completed their 200 hour training and are now certified, but are new to teaching. The class is offered at half price($8) per class and proceeds are donated to a local charity. Cash or check only. (Class passes cannot be used)
Asthanga: The primary series, called Yoga Chikitsa, which means yoga therapy, realigns the spine, detoxifies the body, and builds strength, flexibility and stamina. The series of about 75 poses takes an hour and a half to complete, beginning with sun salutations and moving on to standing poses, seated poses, inversions and backbends before relaxation. No heat added
Gentle/Restorative- A meditative and gentle practice, including stretching asanas (poses) to increase flexibility and release stress. A perfect choice for anyone looking to reduce stress, recover from injury, cope with arthritis, and prepare for pregnancy.No heat added
Open Meditation - Various teachers will guide this class. Combining deep breathing and seated stillness, you will develop a sense of inner calm and clarity. No heat added
Kid’s Classes – Young people love yoga and are natural yogis! Yoga increases their strength and flexibility as well as their ability focus and calm themselves. Chanel teaches a fun class and the kids can’t get enough! Cost is $85.00 for the 8 week class.
