Stress Reduction

More and more studies indicate that stress negatively impacts not only our mental health but our physical health as well. If you have stresses in your life – mental, psychological or social – then you may find Metrowest Yoga’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program beneficial.
This program is based on the internationally acclaimed program developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
This training process brings together Mindfulness meditation and yoga and can help you develop a greater awareness of the mind-body connection, as well as the way unconscious thoughts and behaviors impact your health. Our 8 week MBSR course is designed to help you to meet the ordinary and the extraordinary challenges of life with ease and peace of mind.

Karen completed an 8 week Practicum in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction: Living Inside Participant-Practitioner Perspectives training taught by senior staff from the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical Center. Admission to the program was limited to those with extensive professional experience, and a solid meditation practice. Karen has been studying and teaching a variety of complementary healing modalities since 1998. She is a certified hypnotist and a Reiki Practitioner.

What to Expect
The program consists of seven weekly two hour classes and a one day retreat (6 hour extended class on week 6). Meeting at the Worcester Studio.32 Millbrook St.
Highly participatory, supportive, and structured, this program will provide you with:
- Guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices
- Gentle stretching and mindful yoga
- Group dialogue and mindful communication exercises to enhance awareness in
everyday life - Daily home assignments
- Home practice materials including guided mindfulness practice CD’s and a workbook

Sunday’s -9/25, 10/2, 10/16,10/23,10/30, 11/6 (extended day…6 hours…12 – 6), 11/13, and 11/20
